Father please forgive me,
I hope this wont take long
See I'm trying real hard to follow You
Trying real hard to be strong
But sometimes my people get it twisted
Sometimes they act like they clowns
Instead of trying to get with You
They're more concerned with being down
Then they get caught in their names
Caught up in their video games
Fighting over my skin color
Instead of just loving one another
Instead of being good people, raising good kids
We tripping and fighting over what color Christ is
See when God made us in His image, that one from above
He didn't select a single color, he made us out of Love
We created the divisions, the segregation, the breaks
So we suffer the consequences of arrogant mistakes
We trip when someone walks up in our space
With a man or woman from a different race
Our eyes get big and we ask what the hell is going on?
When as far back as Cleopatra nobody thought it was wrong.
But these are the struggles we choose to fight everyday
Instead of taking more time to Watch, Fight, and Pray.

Forgive me Father, but damn what the hell?
My brothers all locked down in prison cells
Grew up in the same house as me
And still with the same eyes do not see?
For the sins of the father become the sins of the son
That's the logic they follow to excuse all the dumb
But instead of being Kings we find our manhood in a trigger
Find ways to embrace the shame and call each other niggahs
Then trip when another man of a different color
Speaks as we do and calls him niggah like he's a brother
Corrupt and bankrupt and we wear our morals like our chains
An accessory, a show piece to use instead of our brains
And our women don't respect us, cuz we too big for our britches
Then that makes it easier to call them all sluts, hoe's and bitches.
So then our women become fathers, because we decided to take a pass
And children fall for anything, praying it will last
Praying it will last longer than the pain we left on the table
Now D-Block got yo baby as part of they new punk stable.
But this is what we'd rise a glass to and shake our ass to all day
Instead of taking more time to Watch, Fight, and Pray.

Why would anyone think this is the Life?
Leave a woman with 8 kids and not make her your wife?
Or run from man to man, giving every man your treasure
Then wonder he thinks you are worthless beyond measure
Why your kids dont respect you and call you a whore
When your bedroom got spinners and even a revolving door?
But you a STRONG WOMAN, while you cussing and sassin'
Then wonder why REAL KINGS take a look and just keep passin'
So by the time you wake up and your kids have all left you
And no man worth his salt thinks you're worth stepping to
And you've run out of people upon which to lay blame
You turn to that pill or bottle and thats a damn shame.
But tryin to get with Tyrone is all you think about today.
Instead of taking more time to Watch, Fight, and Pray.

The message in song when they sing OH HAPPY DAY
Is not to be JOYFUL, But to Watch, Fight, and Pray
WATCH for these fools that try to rob you of your worth
Cuz it was God Himself who made you a gift on this Earth.
FIGHT for the people that you keep in your heart
Smack that ass if you have to, if down a dark road they start
PRAY all the time and teach your children how to do it
Because troubles surely will come and they'll need prayer to get through it.
And pray for each other and pray for us all
Cuz while the whole world is out there havin a ball
There's a woman who's bleedin and has no one to call
There's a brother who's next choice will be the end of it all
There's a man with a woman he shouldnt be kissin'
There's a boy with a gun cuz no one would listen
And a fist is coming down
And a baby's being drowned
And the lights are going down...and someone is screaming.

Have I scared you or prepared you?
Thats really up to you to say.
But I will tell you like my momma did
Children...Watch, Fight, and Pray.
